Common Ground
Molly Richards
Molly Richards is a Scunthorpe-based artist currently studying for an MA in Media at the Manchester School of Art. She has found her specialism in photography and interactive art.
Her current creative practice explores different spaces and mapping out ways of challenging the participant viewing her work. Lockdown has made us all realise the importance of escapism and often this has meant delving deeper into the screen in front of us. Molly has incorporated the need for escape into her work, presenting new realities that differ from the immediate environment. These simulations are crucial to maintaining our well-being as individuals and as communities.
For To Form, to Follow Molly has documented significant areas in North Lincolnshire to discuss the environmental issue of littering. The areas she has chosen to feature in her work are Doncaster Road, Twigmoor Woods, Ashby Ville nature reserve, Bottesford Beck, and the Isle of Axholme Greenway. These locations are home to different species; the species being the waste products that now claim territory over each environment.
