Welcome to To Form, to Follow. This exhibition explores how maps can be used to inspire and inform art. Humans have used maps throughout history to place themselves in the world. They can help us understand what came before our existence by showing what lies beneath the surface. They help us form ideas and connections to areas. Even in modern times they permeate our lives. To Form, to Follow is an exhibition of the work of three artists, each invited to respond to the concept of maps, curated by Common Ground. The showcase was developed by Common Ground on commission from North Lincolnshire Museum as part of their exhibition On The Map, a display of the museum’s map collection.
